Insolar is a social business that promotes the democratization of the access to solar energy in Brazil through the installation of solar panels in low-income communities with great human potential.
The idea was launched at the end of 2013 when Henrique Drumond and Michel Baitelli - co-founders of Insolar, attended the 1st. SEBRAE ( Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service) Social Business Marathon.
Since then, Insolar has installed more than 200 solar panels, and hopes to install a lot more in the next few years, with the support of favela residents, sponsors, NGOs, solar enthusiasts and other startups.
We believe that the path to progress is to bring energy, technology, education, training, and opportunity for the residents of low-income communities in order to reveal their talents in a way that would allow them contribute to the construction of a solar society.
When technology and collective intelligence are put at the service of society, we open the path to a brighter future.
Insolar follows the concept of social business coined by the Nobel Peace Prize, Prof. Muhammad Yunus, where 100% of business profit is reversed in support of its mission.
